Proposed Project of ChildFund Japan Nepal Office to expand in Gorkha district is “Improving Learning Environment in Gorkha District on 2022. This project is funded by Government of Japan through Japanese NGOs. Overall goal of this project is to improves the learning environment of disadvantaged communities in Gorkha District by rebuilding schools, providing training to teachers and School Management Committee (SMC) members, raising awareness among parents, and strengthening linkage with the local government. This is three years project planned to implement from February 2022 to February 2025. Project will work with twelve schools in three different rural municipalities of Barpak Sulikot, Sahid Lakhan, and Dharche RM of Gorkha district. Each year project will work with four schools including one construction and next year follow up activities will be conducted in first year schools. To ensure safe learning environment school construction support will be done in deprived communities where school classrooms are required and rebuilt.
By the end of three-year project cycle (CY 2022-2025), three schools and their auxiliary buildings are rebuilt, and twelve schools are able to build capacity to act on Child-Friendly Schooling principles, a set of guidelines promoted by Nepal’s Ministry of Education. The first-year project cycle is completed in Barpak Sulikot Rural Municipality where the project has constructed nine rooms school building with auxiliary facilities in Mandali Basic School and completed other learning focused software activities in 4 schools in Barpak Sulikot Rural Municipality. and this year (31 March 2023 to 30 March 2024), the project is planning to construct four rooms building in Rameshwori Secondary school and learning focused software activities in four schools of Sahid Lakhan Rural Municipality
